When a Collector Gives Complete Creative Freedom
Echoes of Youbou is a site-specific commissioned work created for Wayne and Kimberly Farey at their Youbou, British Columbia lake home — a place they have cherished for eighteen years.
Every material was chosen with intention. A seasoned Red Cedar base wrapped with an original Youbou mill saw blade. Slate cut to represent the surrounding mountain range. Cored Vancouver Island marble representing the solidness of Wayne and Kimberly themselves. Cypress wood carved to represent the fish of the lake. Two railway ties honoring the mill railway that once ran through their property. And two magnetic steel ball bearings sealed inside a circular saw blade ring — representing their inner circle.

This painting is inspired by the vibrant beauty of nature, showcasing majestic mountains bathed in sunlight and framed by a luminous sky. Guardian of the Light”
This angelic depiction embodies strength and serenity through natural West Coast elements. The main figure is carved from rich BC Red Cedar, standing tall and warm in its presence.
